A Real Life Six Feet Under
We had, what most people call one of the worst tragedies ever, we lost our Son, Robie, who would have been four years old
this month. We still do not have a reason for this extreme loss. He was part of a set, Robie, Sophia & Grace are triplets.
All though I would like to use this opportunity to use it as my own personal soap box, to share with all who want to read
our feelings, my intensions are different, I don’t know how bad my feelings would have been had it not been for Louis
Ruggerio.
Louis Ruggiero owns Illiff-Ruggerio Funeral Home in Newton, NJ. He is a handsome man, with wonderful blonde hair, he looks
like if he weren’t in his perfectly pressed suit, he would be on a beach somewhere catching the next wave. His voice
is soft, comforting, yet very strong and reassuring. His arms are open for a hug when he sees you. Under our circumstances,
we needed someone with compassion and professionalism, I would imagine that is what everyone is looking for at such a devastating
time, however, it is rare. We found both in him. He spoke to us of his own loss in his life and how he dealt with it. We know
his brother is his partner, although we didn’t get the opportunity to meet him.
The funeral home had a beautiful history and charm about it. It was immaculate, smoke free, and tastefully decorated. Every
detail was taken care of for the family in a private lounge. Even a mint when I couldn’t ask but probably needed
one. Even our friends who couldn’t find a last minute babysitter for their children were made comfortable by him and
his staff. He even made sure we had a police escort. The Newton Police Department and the New Jersey State Police, held traffic
at every intersection, even shut down Route 15 and 206. What and honor and privilege for our family and friends. We want to
thank them from the bottom of our hearts.
We will never get over the loss of our Robie, but knowing Louis Ruggerio made the process of planning a funeral as pain
free as possible. Thank you, Louis.
